About Us
The International Academy of Tax Law (A/T/L) is the tax education division of I/I/T/F.
A/T/L started in 2005 as a niche, short course training institution; however, in 2008 took the move to offer full postgraduate qualifications focussing primarily on various aspects of tax law.
Tax Law is an ever-changing landscape with legislators constantly trying to plug the so-called “tax gap“. These changes make tax law (globally) more complex, creating a dynamic and complex arena for organisations to function. For this reason, A/T/L has a somewhat different approach to “traditional” universities when teaching tax law. The A/T/L academic faculty consists of practising tax experts who draw on their extensive knowledge in dealing with very complex matters to deliver courses that are not only of the highest academic quality but are up-to-the-minute current with any new developments.
The members of the faculty practice tax law in many jurisdictions around the world, making them ideal candidates to lecture on A/T/L courses.
A/T/L offers various courses in tax law, including International Taxation, Transfer Pricing and other specialised tax law subjects. The qualifications range from practical certificate courses, postgraduate certificates and diplomas to Masters (MSc) programmes.

The ‘Triad’
A/T/L’s most important partnership is a “triad” between A/T/L, Informa Connect Ltd and Middlesex University.
Informa Connect Ltd and A/T/L have had a course distribution and administration partnership for nearly a decade. Informa provides the marketing and sales support, while A/T/L develops and delivers the various courses.
Informa Connect Ltd and Middlesex University (MDX) have a long-standing partnership. In 2017, A/T/L, through Informa Connect Ltd, started validating its courses through MDX. As of 2022, A/T/L have nine courses validated by MDX.
Simply put, Informa provides the marketing and sales support, A/T/L delivers the courses, and MDX provides the U.K. accredited qualifications to successful students.

Middlesex University is a large London-based university with a history in higher education dating from 1878. In 1992 MDX was granted the Royal Charter allowing the use of the title “university”.
MDX offers a broad range of courses delivered by three academic faculties of Arts and Creative Industries, Professional and Social Sciences and Science and Technology, structured to closely align teaching and learning with industry.
MDX has over 40,000 students studying on Middlesex courses worldwide, both at our own campuses and also with partner institutions, making it one of the largest providers of British university education to international students.

Dr Daniel N Erasmus
Chairman of Academic Faculty
Dr Erasmus’s primary responsibility within the academic panel is to ensure that all courses are developed and delivered in the most professional manner possible and that all faculty members deliver the most up-to-date information to students. He is also the lead supervisor across all the MSc programmes, sharing his +30-year experience with students.

Mr Renier van Rensburg

Senior Lecturer (International Tax and Transfer Pricing)
Renier carries a dual role, that of CFO and lecturer. He is a lead lecturer across all the International Tax and Transfer Pricing courses.

Gilbert Ferreira
COO
Institutional Link Tutor
Gilbert Ferreira is one of the founders of A/T/L (I/I/T/F). He has been involved directly in the academy since 2006. His primary roles are ensuring smooth day-to-day administration and managing the partnerships with Informa Connect Ltd and Middlesex University.
Gilbert is also responsible for the architecture of the platforms that deliver the courses. He also remains actively involved with student affairs, enabling the academy to enhance A/T/L offerings constantly.

Mr Josh Curtis-Hale
Programme and Enrollment Manager – Informa Connect Ltd
Josh and his team at Informa Connect are responsible for the marketing and sales of all the courses and the enrollment of students. Josh also plays a critical administrative role in running the various courses.

Ms Firoozeh Ghaffari
University Link Tutor – Middlesex University
Firoozeh is responsible for ensuring that MDX validated programmes are delivered according to the MDX course validation requirements and standards.
Firoozeh is currently the Head of the Accounting and Finance Department in the Business School. She has served on several committees, including the Independent Remuneration Panel for Barnet Council, where she was the Chair of the Committee. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of Heads of Departments of Accounting and Finance in the UK.
