The information we collect
- Enquiry and brochure forms: your name, email address, country, the programme you are interested in, and any message you send us.
- Enrolment-related information: where you proceed towards enrolment, the information needed to administer your place on a programme.
- Technical information: this site sets no cookies by default; see our Cookie Policy for the limited analytics we may use with your consent.
We do not collect or store payment card details on this website. When online payments launch they will be processed by Stripe, and your card details will go directly to Stripe — never to our servers.
How we use your information
- To send you the brochure or information you requested.
- To respond to your enquiries and provide programme advice, including follow-up from our programme advisors.
- To administer enrolments and deliver our programmes.
- To send you the Academy newsletter (case summaries, articles and course announcements). Every newsletter includes a one-click unsubscribe.
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
Who we share your information with
We never sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers and partners who help us run the Academy:
- Our student relationship system: enquiries and enrolments are managed in the Academy's own secure CRM, hosted with our website provider.
- Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.): we use Mailchimp to send the Academy newsletter and keep our mailing list. When you submit a form, your name and email are added to our Mailchimp audience. Mailchimp is based in the United States and processes data under recognised international transfer safeguards.
- Google (Gmail): our transactional and correspondence email (connect@academyoftaxlaw.com) is delivered through Google's email services.
- Informa Connect, our operations partner: when you enquire about a postgraduate programme or IFF certificate course, your enquiry is shared with the relevant Informa Connect programme team, who handle enrolment for those programmes.
- Middlesex University, London, our validation partner: enrolment records are shared where required for the award of validated qualifications.
- Stripe (once online payments launch): payment processing for books, short courses and webinars.
International transfers
Some of our providers process data outside the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, or South Africa (for example, Mailchimp and Google in the United States). Where they do, transfers are protected by recognised safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy framework.
How long we keep your information
- Enquiries: for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and reasonable follow-up.
- Enrolment and academic records: for the periods required by our academic and legal obligations.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see Your rights below).
Your rights
Under data protection law (including the EU/UK GDPR and South Africa's POPIA) you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Ask us to delete your information.
- Object to or restrict our processing.
- Receive your information in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time (for example, unsubscribing from the newsletter).
- Complain to your data protection authority.
